Gouda came to rescue via a series of phone messages and a lot of help from people at the Golden Spike Humane Society in UT and Weimaraner rescue in ID. She was in a high kill shelter and time was short. The person who contacted us about her couldn't verify that she was for sure a Vizsla but she had a good relationship with other rescue groups in Idaho and the pup was young so we asked her to pull her from the shelter for us. She put her up at a boarding/grooming facility until Rebecca could get to her on Monday, 8/8/00. Through the shelter we were able to find the original owner and confirmed that her mother was indeed a Vizsla but that the father was a Vizsla or the neighbor's yellow Lab. She had already been re-homed once at only 4 months old as the original owners said she was too rambunctious for their infant children. She was turned into the shelter by the second family for chasing chickens on the farm.

Barbara and Bill in Park City UT had been on our waiting list for a dog since July and as soon as they heard about this girl they rushed to Salt Lake to adopt her. Shortly after being adopted, Gouda brought her new family, including her new pal, Rusty, the Golden Retriever to the 1st Annual Utah/Idaho Vizsla Rescue picnic in September 2000. Gouda is enjoying the good life in the mountains of UT and has completed her obedience classes with flying colors. She gets to see moose and all sorts of wild critters daily and Gouda is sure that she met Rebecca in her prior life as a dog.
