Original story: George is an 11-mo old purebred German shorthaired pointer, b. 5/8/2008 per his vet records. He and his littermate were released to a rural shelter by their older owner who was not able to care for two high energy shorthair pups. George was adopted once and returned for having too much energy for the kids in the family. George is described as friendly by shelter and vet staff. We will know more once he arrives in Boise the weekend of March 28th.
Update 4/1: George arrived in Boise today. He is a fairly big boy who should fill out to about 60-lbs but was an absolute gem meeting the other 5 dogs (vizsla/shorthairs/pointers) and appears to be fine with other dogs of all ages. He played for 2 solid hours and is asleep at my feet now... proof that pointers have two speeds... 90-mph and zero :) George will do best in a home without cats but everyone except the resident cat thinks George is one of the nicest most easy going shorthairs they've ever met. He's a little overwhelmed at times with city life (traffic, leash walking, etc) after moving from a rural area but, as with most things, he seems to take it all in stride.

Aug 2009: George was adopted in April but was returned in July after two unfortunate run-ins with neighborhood cats. Thanks to Claudia with SPDR and the help of Cascade Kennels in Woodinville WA, we believe George has finally found his forever home in WA where he will be the best hiking buddy ever!
