THOR

Three year old Thor was released to rescue by his original owners when they moved to an apartment and couldn't take him. They were told he was a Vizsla when they got him as a puppy 3 years ago but he is likely a Vizsla/chocolate lab or Vizsla/shorthair mix and has lived most of his life on a chain in the yard. He was raised with an 8-yr old boy, a cat and an older small breed dog but he is just now learning about living in a house. He is good with the two females in his foster home (although he has little respect for their personal space), ignores the cat, loves to play fetch, loves car rides, house broken, doesn't bark at all, sits for his dinner and is taking to crate training like a champ. He weighs in at a compact 48-lbs, short coat and while he is a bit needy and confused at this time, he is a very sweet, undemanding boy who really wants to please and seems used to staying out of the way. He is protective of his home turf and gets his hackles up when strangers come over but within a minute he is all over them looking for hugs and kisses. Thor will need his new family to have patience with him as he learns about living with people and sharing his toys.

In January, Eric and Mikki drove to Boise from Denver to meet Thor. They both have a great love for dogs but Thor will be the first they have had together and he promises to be a good buddy and running partner- not to mention a challenge. We suspect Thor will always push the envelope in the behavior department just a little but we also know that every ounce of love he receives will be returned to them over and over again. He is a champion hugger and still needs some cuddle practice but is a dynamite little guy all the way around. Thank you Eric & Mikki for inviting Thor into your lives and for giving him a chance at a better life than he could ever have dreamed of... from life on a chain to running and playing in the Rocky Mountains!
