SHASTA

Shasta came to rescue as an owner release thanks to Brigham City animal control. Her owner went to the shelter to drop her off and they asked him to call us. The shelter was full and she was too shy to adopt out. We quickly made arrangements for her to visit with Phylene at Ellie's Pet Hotel to keep her safe until we could drive up to get her. Shasta was given up due to being gun shy and they only wanted a hunting dog. She was kept outside as a kennel dog so was not housetrained. She was bred at least once. She was not given routine medical care and we noticed a soft cough when she would run and play. At her vet visit she was tested for heartworms and was positive. With the help of the Vizsla Club of America she underwent the $500 treatment of painful shots to kill the worms.

After her treatment was complete she needed 30 days of being kept very quiet. Her new mom Janet felt that would be good bonding time and she drove down to Salt Lake to adopt her. Shasta has an older sister in Roxy. Janet reports that both girls are getting along but Shasta wants all the attention. Thanks for taking on Shasta and we are sure that she will have a ball playing in the mountains at the cabin.
