PRETZEL - Story coming

Original story, Aug 2011: Pretzel is a 3-yr old neutered male who was surrendered to rescue by his owner due to a change in family circumstances. He is a larger boy, coming via a kennel in Kansas to a now defunct Oregon pet store chain. Pretzel has been through a course of companionship classes and has good manners although he is a counter cruiser and can be vocal if left alone. He is a sweet boy and a leaner and loves car rides. He was reportedly raised with teenage children but his foster home doesn't have kids so we can't evaluate him with young children. He is prone to skin allergies which are under control with a consistent diet and regular ear cleanings. He spent a few weeks in foster care in a kennel environment but is currently in a home with several other dogs, a cat and horses. His first home included an older dog who was a bit grumpy so, while he is okay with other dogs, he will need proper introductions and we expect his dog-dog skills to improve as he gains confidence. He can be protective of toys with other dogs but is more interested in people than other dogs. We consider him manageable with a very dog savvy cat but cats are not his companion of choice. He knows his name, sit and down, gets off the furniture when told to, and comes when called.

Oct 31 update: Pretzel is a really neat dog and has come a long ways in foster care. He is a little quirky but in a fun way. He gets along well with everyone and is manageable with the dog savvy cat in his foster home. He is much better about not searching counters for food... probably due to having regular feeding times he can depend on. He is very playful and loves his soft toys. He will let... er, make that insist... you pet him for days if you are up for it. Pretzel enjoys playing with other dogs but would prefer to be an only child. He loves to lay beside you on the couch or sleep on your bed if you let him but is good about not getting on the furniture unless asked. He has excellent house manners and is crate trained. Pretzel would love a home with a human who is just as special as he is!
