AVERY (was EIKA)
Eika is a 1-2 yr old female. She could be either a vizsla/shorthair cross or a solid liver shorthair. She is excellent with other dogs, sweet, playful and outgoing. She spent a couple weeks in a temporary foster home with teenage children but younger kids are an unknown. Jake, the foster cat, has proclaimed her not good with cats and, while he would very much like her to move out, he owes it to his fellow felines to not place her in a home with cats. She is still very much a puppy with puppy chewing habits and needs basic training. She is excellent with handling and has never met a stranger. Hunting potential is unknown. She is spayed and current on standard vaccines.
Update Sep 2006: Eika caught a ride with Joan of IDAWG to Pendleton where she met her new dad and extended family. Her new name is Avery which we think is almost as pretty as she is. Aside from some issues of not coming to call and being a bit of an escape artist she is settling in fine and loves her new family and friends. Tim writes "We’ve used that trick that Joan recommended and it is really working well. I’m not sure if you were aware of her running potential or not, but she is wicked fast. It is an amazing thing to watch her run across the field in pursuit of Andrea and I when we play this new game.". No doubt she is a thing of beauty when she runs so keep working on that recall and enjoy your new running partner!
Special thanks to Ellie's Pet Hotel in Brigham City UT for taking care of Avery for us until we could find foster space for her.
